Preview Roundups
February 06, 2018
Anaheim at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
Less than 24 hours after squandering a chance to climb into a playoff spot, the Anaheim Ducks get another opportunity as they wrap up their five-game road trip Tuesday against the Eastern Conference-worst Buffalo Sabres. Anaheim, which is one point out of both third place in the Pacific Division and the second wild card in the Western Conference, began its trek with a win in Boston but has dropped three straight (0-2-1) - including Monday's 7-4 decision at Toronto.
Vegas at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
Marc-Andre Fleury returns to the city he called home for 13 seasons on Tuesday when the three-time Stanley Cup-winning goaltender leads the expansion Vegas Golden Knights into PPG Paints Arena to face the Pittsburgh Penguins. Fleury will be flanked by wife, Veronique, and his two daughters when he receives his championship ring from Penguins owner Mario Lemieux prior to the contest.
Philadelphia at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
While the City of Philadelphia is head over heels as it showers the Super Bowl-winning Eagles with praise, the free-falling Flyers have been left soaking wet with losses in each of their last four outings (0-3-1). Philadelphia's hockey team looks to gain inspiration from the triumphant football club on Tuesday when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena.
Washington at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
After failing to earn a point in back-to-back games for the first time since mid-November, the Washington Capitals look to get back on track when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night in the front end of a home-and-home series. The Capitals have only two wins in their last seven games (2-3-2) but own a four-game winning streak versus Columbus.
New Jersey at Ottawa 7:30 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils have halted a dispiriting losing trend with three consecutive victories and hope to continue their revival when they visit the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. The Devils had dropped 10 of 12 games (2-8-2) before knocking off Buffalo and Philadelphia, then they limited Pittsburgh to 16 shots in a 3-1 triumph Saturday to move back into second place in the Metropolitan Division.
Boston at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The Boston Bruins have been the hottest team in hockey for more than 2 1/2 months as they prepare to hit a stretch where they will play eight of the next 10 games away from home. The surging Bruins have picked up at least one point in 20 of their last 21 games entering a matchup against the host Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night.
Vancouver at Florida 7:30 PM ET
The Florida Panthers are trying to climb back into contention for a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference and look to extend their winning streak to four when they host the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night. The Panthers have scored 11 times in the three wins since the All-Star break and capped the run with a 3-2 victory over Detroit on Jonathan Huberdeau’s goal with 8.9 seconds left Saturday.
Minnesota at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues have a grand opportunity to create hay in the Central with three straight and nine of their next 12 contests against division representatives. The Blues look to start that stretch on a positive note when they bid to continue their home dominance over the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.
Arizona at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
The Winnipeg Jets keep finding ways to win despite a rash of injuries, but there is a semblance of good news for the Central Division leaders entering Tuesday’s home contest against the Arizona Coyotes. Top-line center Mark Scheifele has been sidelined with an upper-body injury since late December and could return to the lineup as early as Friday, but the Jets spent Monday contemplating how to configure their penalty kill due to various ailments.
Calgary at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
The Calgary Flames finally put an end to a six-game losing streak by rallying from a two-goal deficit for an overtime victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night. The Flames will be facing a revenge-minded club when they travel to Chicago for a rematch on Tuesday night in the opener of a six-game road trip.
San Jose at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
Life without Joe Thornton is starting to treat the San Jose Sharks better as they finish a five-game road trip Tuesday against the Colorado Avalanche. San Jose lost its first three games without Thornton, who went down with a knee injury Jan. 23, but has responded with 3-1 victories over Columbus and Carolina to move into second place in the Pacific Division - 10 points behind Vegas.
