Preview Roundups
April 29, 2019
St. Louis at Washington 7:05 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals will leave their majors-best 12-4 home record in their rear view mirror on Monday when they embark on a seven-game road trip with the first of four against the Washington Nationals. Yadier Molina will look to extend his hitting streak to a career-high 16 games in the opener while the surging Cardinals vie for their eighth win in nine outings.
Oakland at Boston 7:10 PM ET
Every time it looks like the defending champions are about to turn a corner and get back to being the team that breezed through the regular season in 2018, the Boston Red Sox take a big step back. The Red Sox will try to avoid a third consecutive setback when they host the Oakland Athletics in the opener of a three-game series on Monday.
Cincinnati at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
The New York Mets are treading water in the National League East with a 5-6 record at Citi Field, a mark that includes a split of the first six contests of their 10-game homestand. The Mets look to turn it up a notch on Monday when they open a four-game series against the Cincinnati Reds, who are just 4-10 on the road.
San Diego at Atlanta 7:20 PM ET
The San Diego Padres saw their five-game winning streak come to an end Sunday, but their bigger concern is about the health of their dynamic rookie shortstop. Fernando Tatis Jr. left in the 10th inning with a hamstring injury and could land on the injured list before the Padres open a four-game series against the host Atlanta Braves on Monday.
Houston at Minnesota 7:40 PM ET
After dropping two straight games in Houston last week to lose the series, the Minnesota Twins took out their frustrations by sweeping a three-game set versus Baltimore. The Twins hope to continue their surge and exact some revenge when they host the Astros on Monday for the opener of their four-game series.
Colorado at Milwaukee 7:40 PM ET
Christian Yelich gave the Milwaukee Brewers a scare when he left Sunday’s game with a sore lower back, but the reigning National League MVP isn’t expected to require a trip to the injured list. Yelich is listed as day-to-day for the Brewers, who open a 10-game homestand with the first of four against the Colorado Rockies on Monday.
Baltimore at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles came out of the gates strong last month for their new manager, but they have seemingly fallen back into their old habits since then with a couple of exceptions - one of which came versus the Chicago White Sox. The Orioles hope to halt a stretch during which they have dropped 18 of 24 beginning Monday when they visit Chicago for the opener of a three-game set against the White Sox.
Tampa Bay at Kansas City 8:15 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays remain the class of the American League East a month into the regular season and own the best record in the majors. The Rays will try to keep rolling when they continue their nine-game road trip by visiting the Kansas City Royals for the opener of a four-game set on Monday.
LA Dodgers at San Francisco 9:45 PM ET
Cody Bellinger told reporters following his team's last victory that he isn't "trying to do too much," but all he is doing lately is carrying the Los Angeles Dodgers and making a mockery of National League pitching. The 2018 NL Championship Series MVP sets his sights on becoming the first major-league player ever with 15 home runs before May 1 when the Dodgers begin a three-game series in San Francisco against the Giants on Monday.
