Preview Roundups
April 17, 2019
NY Mets at Philadelphia 1:05 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies wasted little time exacting revenge after losing the opener in extra innings, as they set the tone the following day with a 10-run outburst in the first to even the series. The Phillies look to keep the scoreboard operator busy once again on Wednesday afternoon as they vie for a rare series win versus the visiting New York Mets.
St. Louis at Milwaukee 1:40 PM ET
Christian Yelich hit six homers and drove in 15 runs in 16 games against the St. Louis Cardinals in 2018 en route to winning National League Most Valuable Player honors. Yelich has needed less than three weeks to eclipse those numbers against St. Louis and will try to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a three-game sweep of the visiting Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon.
Kansas City at Chi. White Sox 2:10 PM ET
Yoan Moncada is coming off the first multi-homer performance of his career as he looks to help the Chicago White Sox complete a three-game sweep of the visiting Kansas City Royals on Wednesday afternoon. Moncada hit two of Chicago's four homers in Tuesday's 5-1 triumph while raising his batting average to .333.
Cincinnati at LA Dodgers 3:10 PM ET
Missing two of their top offensive players due to injuries, the Los Angeles Dodgers went out and registered 13 hits en route to a victory. The Dodgers hope to have Cody Bellinger and Justin Turner back in the lineup Wednesday as they attempt to complete a sweep when they host the Cincinnati Reds for the finale of their three-game series.
Boston at NY Yankees 6:35 PM ET
J.A. Happ shut down the Boston Red Sox last year and Nathan Eovaldi did the same to the New York Yankees, but both pitchers are off to rocky starts this season. Neither Happ nor Eovaldi have cracked the win column yet as they prepare to square off when New York wraps up a two-game series against the rival Red Sox on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.
Cleveland at Seattle 6:40 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians look to complete a three-game sweep when they visit the struggling Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. Cleveland notched a pair of two-run victories to clinch the series while the Mariners are 0-5 on their six-game homestand after a franchise-best 13-2 start.
Pittsburgh at Detroit 6:40 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates, led by Starling Marte, have thoroughly enjoyed interleague play over the past year. Marte leads the Pirates into another matchup with an American League team when they complete a two-game series at the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday.
San Francisco at Washington 7:05 PM ET
The light-hitting San Francisco Giants demonstrated a rare power display by belting a season-high three home runs in their series-opening victory over the Washington Nationals. The Giants look to flex their muscles once again on Wednesday night when they bid for a series win in the nation's capital.
Baltimore at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
Something clicked in when Avisail Garcia met his former team last week and the outfielder looks to continue his hot streak with the bat when the Tampa Bay Rays host the Baltimore Orioles for the second of a three-game set Wednesday. Garcia, who signed as a free agent with the Rays after spending five-plus years with the White Sox, was 4-for-24 before returning to Chicago and is 14-for-31 since with seven RBIs in seven games.
Chi. Cubs at Miami 7:10 PM ET

Nothing heals what ails a team quite like a matchup with the Miami Marlins these days. The Chicago Cubs look to continue their quick turnaround in South Florida when they attempt to complete a three-game sweep of the host Marlins on Wednesday.

Arizona at Atlanta 7:20 PM ET
Eduardo Escobar collected just three hits in his first 29 at-bats during a miserable first seven games of the season, but the Arizona Diamondbacks infielder has found his hitting stroke entering Wednesday’s middle contest of a three-game series at the Atlanta Braves. Escobar finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored in Tuesday’s 9-6 series-opening victory, boosting his average in the past 10 games to .343 with seven RBIs, seven runs scored and six walks.
Toronto at Minnesota 7:40 PM ET
Eric Sogard enjoyed a successful debut with Toronto and hopes to keep proving he belongs on the big stage when the Blue Jays continue their four-game series against the host Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. Sogard was called up from Triple-A Buffalo to replace the struggling Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (.175 average in 40 at-bats) and went 3-for-5 with two runs scored batting leadoff and playing third base in Toronto's 6-5 victory Tuesday.
LA Angels at Texas 8:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers have enjoyed the comforts of home thus far this season, winning seven of their first 10 games at Globe Life Park. They attempt to continue the success and complete a sweep when they host the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday for the finale of a three-game series.
Houston at Oakland 10:07 PM ET
Houston manager AJ Hinch insists the Astros are over the sting of losing in the 2018 American League Championship Series to Boston and a long winning streak seems to back up his claim. Houston tries for its 11th straight victory Wednesday when it visits the Oakland Athletics in the finale of their two-game series after rolling 9-1 on Tuesday.
