Tyler Seguin scored just 24 seconds into overtime as the visiting Dallas Stars blew a third-period lead and then collected a comeback 4-3 win over the Calgary Flames Wednesday night.
The winner was controversial, as Jamie Benn appeared to make contact with Flames goalie David Rittich just before, but the goal stood for a club that has just two wins in six outings.
Dallas goalie Anton Khudobin made 30 saves in the win.
Veteran Stars forward Jason Spezza snapped an eight-game goal drought by scoring on the night's first shot just 41 seconds into the tilt with a one-timer from the slot.
Calgary's Garnet Hathaway evened the score at 16:39 of the opening frame. The Flames' fourth line was controlling play with the cycle before Hathaway worked his way to the right face-off dot to one-time the pass from Mark Jankowski.
Benn restored the Dallas lead thanks to a power-play goal with 1:58 remaining in the second period by crashing the net and tucking home the cross-ice pass from Seguin.
However, Johnny Gaudreau again drew Calgary even with a power-play goal of his own at 9:41 of the third period, wiring a top-corner wrister from the left dot over the goalie's glove.
Then it was Calgary's turn to take the lead, only to see it disappear in a heartbeat. Mark Giordano put Calgary ahead just 70 seconds after Gaudreau's goal with a point shot, but Gavin Bayreuther scored on a seeing-eye effort at the 13:15 mark of the period to make it a 3-3 clash.
Benn, Seguin and Beyreuther all had two-point games for the Stars, who have won four straight meetings with the Flames. Giordano also had a two-point night.
Rittich made 24 saves for the Flames, who sit atop the Pacific Division despite having dropped two of three outings. Calgary does have a 6-8-2 record in games in which it has trailed after two periods.
