Oilers 5, Flyers 4 (OT): Ryan Nugent-Hopkins knocked in a rebound 2:46 into overtime for his second goal of the game as Edmonton handed Philadelphia its ninth straight loss on the road.

Nugent-Hopkins also notched an assist while extending his point streak to five games and Jordan Eberle netted one tally and set up another to stretch his point run to seven contests for the Oilers. Teddy Purcell and Matt Hendricks also scored while Ben Scrivens turned aside 27 shots as Edmonton matched its season-high point streak of four games (2-0-2).

Captain Claude Giroux scored a pair of goals and Jakub Voracek recorded three assists while Ryan White and Michael Raffl also tallied for the Flyers, who concluded an 0-2-2 road trip. Ray Emery made 29 saves for Philadelphia after scheduled starter Steve Mason was a late scratch due to illness.

Eberle zipped up the middle, accepted Benoit Pouliot’s pass and shoveled a shot past Emery 71 seconds into the second period to snap a 3-3 tie. Raffl responded 46 seconds into the third with a shot from the slot, but Scrivens made sure it got to overtime by making a save on Nick Cousins’ breakaway chance later in the period.

Nugent-Hopkins opened the scoring with a backhander 51 seconds into the first period, but Giroux beat Scrivens from the slot at 4:25 and converted on the power play less than eight minutes later for a 2-1 edge. White increased the lead on a 2-on-1 rush with Zac Rinaldo 2:17 afterward before Purcell scored from slot at 16:15 and Hendricks popped in a rebound with 31 seconds left in the session to tie it.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Oilers LW Taylor Hall returned to the lineup after missing 20 games with an ankle injury and recorded an assist on the winning goal. … The multi-goal performance was Giroux's first since Dec. 20 against Toronto and increased his season total to 21 tallies, reaching 20 for the fourth time in his career. … Edmonton D Andrew Ference notched an assist in his 900th NHL contest. … Philadelphia D Luke Schenn missed the game with a lower-body injury and C Vincent Lecavalier was a healthy scratch while RW Matt Read returned to the lineup after missing two games for the birth of his child.
