Rangers 2, Penguins 1: Brad Richards scored the go-ahead goal on the power play 7:56 into the second period as visiting New York advanced to the Eastern Conference final by overcoming a 3-1 series deficit for the first time in franchise history.

Brian Boyle also tallied and Henrik Lundqvist finished with 35 saves for the Rangers, who await the victor of the Boston-Montreal series. The Presidents' Trophy-winning Bruins host the Canadiens in Game 7 of their second-round series on Wednesday.

Jussi Jokinen scored his team-leading seventh goal and Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside 18 shots for the Penguins, who fell to 1-8 on home ice with an opportunity to finish a series since Dan Bylsma became the team's coach in February 2009.

With Pittsburgh defenseman Matt Niskanen serving a tripping penalty, former Tampa Bay teammates Martin St. Louis and Richards renewed acquaintances to give New York a 2-1 lead. St. Louis alertly looked over his shoulder before gaining possession of a loose puck behind the end line and backhanded a centering feed to Richards, who beat Fleury from the slot.

Lundqvist made the slim advantage stand up by denying James Neal from point-blank range with 2:03 left in the second. The Swedish Olympian kept up the intensity by stopping all 13 shots he faced in the third as the Rangers held on for a 2-1 victory - the same score of their Game 7 triumph over Philadelphia in the first round.
