Rangers 2, Flyers 1: Former Flyer Daniel Carcillo scored his second goal in three games and Benoit Pouliot netted the decisive tally in the second period as host New York edged Philadelphia in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference first-round series.

Henrik Lundqvist improved to 4-1 lifetime in Game 7s by making 26 saves for the Rangers, who are a perfect 6-0 in seventh games at Madison Square Garden. New York moves on to face the Metropolitan Division-champion Penguins in the second round, which begins Friday in Pittsburgh.

Rookie Jason Akeson scored the lone goal for the Flyers, who came up short in a late third-period charge. Steve Mason was superb in defeat, turning aside 31 shots - including 16 in the middle session.

After an evenly played scoreless first period, New York dominated the second - outshooting Philadelphia 18-5. Back in the lineup after sitting out two games, Carcillo burned his former team at 3:06 by tapping in a brilliant backhand pass by Mats Zuccarello from the outer edge of the right faceoff circle that made its way between the legs of two defenders.

Pouliot doubled the lead with 8:14 left in the session, converting a feed by Derick Brassard from the right corner. Akeson found the top left corner of the net from the right circle after his initial shot was blocked, but Philadelphia was unable to get the equalizer.
