Predators 5, Sabres 1: Captain Shea Weber scored twice and Nashville erupted for four goals in the first period to halt a six-game home losing streak.

Eric Nyquist recorded a goal and an assist, Colin Wilson and Calle Jarnkrok scored nine seconds apart and Colton Sissons netted his first career tally as the Predators improved to 3-0-1 in their last four. Rich Clune collected a pair of assists and Carter Hutton made 32 saves to win his second straight start.

Defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen netted the lone goal for skidding Buffalo, which tumbled to its 10th loss in 11 games and has failed to score more than twice in each of the defeats. Matt Hackett allowed four goals on 15 shots before being replaced by Nathan Lieuwen, who made 17 saves.

After Sissons started the first-period barrage by cleaning up a rebound at 6:26, Wilson knocked home a rebound at 11:44 and Jarnkrok registered his first career goal shortly thereafter, burying a shot from the right hash marks for a 3-0 lead.

Weber capitalized on a 5-on-3 power play with 43 seconds left in the period with a bullet from just above the right faceoff circle. Ristolainen got the Sabres on the board 2:06 into the second, but Weber answered four minutes later with another cannon shot from the top of the right circle.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jarnkrok, acquired from Detroit at the trade deadline, has notched a point in all four career games. ... Sabres LW Ville Leino suffered an upper-body injury in the first period and did not return. ... Wilson ended a goal-scoring drought of nearly three months with his first tally since connecting twice against Detroit on Jan. 30.
