Rangers 2, Islanders 1: Dan Carcillo scored the game-winning goal early in the third period as the visiting Rangers won for the second time in four days at Yankee Stadium.

Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 30 shots as the Rangers improved to 11-4-1 in their last 16 games and avenged a 5-3 loss to the Islanders on Jan. 21. Benoit Pouliot also scored before a packed house at the home of the New York Yankees in the third installment of the NHL Stadium Series as the Rangers moved three points clear of Philadelphia for second place in the Metropolitan Division.

Brock Nelson tallied for the Islanders, who tumbled to their fourth consecutive loss (0-3-1) since beating the Rangers a week ago. Evgeni Nabokov, making his first start since suffering a lower-body injury Jan. 4, made 32 saves in the frigid conditions, which featured a game-time temperature of 22 degrees and a wind chill of 7 degrees.

Carcillo, who had been held off the scoresheet over the previous seven games, finished off a give-and-go with Dominic Moore for the go-ahead tally 4:36 into the third. Nabokov stopped Moore's shot from the right faceoff circle, but a cutting Carcillo knocked in the rebound for a 2-1 edge.

The Islanders finally broke the scoreless deadlock with 1:27 left in the second period, when Cal Clutterbuck sprawled on his stomach while pushing a cross-slot pass to Nelson, who buried a shot from the right circle. The lead lasted only 40 seconds as Derick Brassard fired a puck from behind the net into the chest of Pouliot, who settled it and pushed it over a prone Nabokov at 19:13.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Lundqvist improved to 3-0-0 in outdoor games following his win over New Jersey at Yankee Stadium on Sunday and a 3-2 victory at Philadelphia in the 2012 Winter Classic. ... Pouliot halted an 11-game goalless drought. ... Islanders RW Kyle Okposo had his six-game point streak come to an end.
