Flyers 2, Senators 1: Jakub Voracek scored the decisive goal midway through the third period as visiting Philadelphia thwarted Ottawa's chances of improving its playoff seeding.

Jason Akeson scored his first goal in his NHL debut and Steve Mason made 43 saves while picking up an assist on the winning goal. The Flyers finished the season on a four-game winning streak and handed the Senators only their sixth regulation loss at home.

Kyle Turris scored the only goal for Ottawa, which must earn a point in Sunday's season finale at Boston to avoid finishing in eighth place and a first-round matchup with the top-seeded Pittsburgh Penguins. Should they win, the Senators will open the playoffs against Northeast Division-rival Montreal. If Ottawa gains just one point, it will face Boston in the first round.

Akeson, who grew up 30 minutes from Scotiabank Place, put Philadelphia on the board when he beat Craig Anderson (23 saves) with a wrist shot from the slot only 3:46 into the game. Turris got the equalizer 4:35 into the second after beating Mason under the crossbar.

Voracek concluded his sizzling finish to the season at 10:02 of the third, giving him 22 goals on the season and five in his last seven games. Mason made the lead stand up with his fourth straight victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Flyers captain Claude Giroux collected his 200th career assist on Akeson's goal. It was his 48th point, marking the second straight season he has averaged a point per game. ... Senators D Chris Phillips also reached 200 career assists on Turris' tally and earned his 2,000th career penalty minute when he drew a 10-minute misconduct early in the third. ... Ottawa's game with the Bruins is a makeup as a result of the Boston Marathon bombings. The Bruins need a victory to win the division title.
