Flyers 5, Capitals 4 (OT): Ruslan Fedotenko scored 1:34 into overtime after defenseman Kimmo Timonen forged a tie with 10 seconds remaining in the third period as host Philadelphia recorded its second straight victory.

Captain Claude Giroux collected a power-play goal and two assists and Matt Read joined Fedotenko by scoring for the second consecutive contest. Max Talbot added a goal before leaving the game with a lower-body injury and Ilya Bryzgalov made 25 saves for the Flyers, who moved within two points of both the New York Rangers and Islanders for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

Marcus Johansson and captain Alex Ovechkin scored power-play goals 26 seconds apart in the third period and Nicklas Backstrom tallied in his 400th career game. Defenseman Mike Green scored in his second straight contest for the Capitals, who saw their four-game road winning streak come to an end.

Timonen sent the game to overtime by unleashing a blast from the point past Braden Holtby (29 saves). The veteran blue-liner registered his third assist by wiring a feed to the doorstep for Fedotenko, who scored to send the Wells Fargo Center faithful into a frenzy.

After his turnover in the defensive zone led to Johansson's goal to give Washington a 3-2 lead, Giroux brought Philadelphia back within one at 4-3 by beating Holtby with 7:12 remaining in the third period.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ovechkin gave Washington a 4-2 edge with a blast from the left faceoff circle, prompting Bryzgalov to throw his water bottle in disgust. Ovechkin's tally extended his point streak to eight games. The Russian superstar has recorded eight goals and four assists during that stretch. ... Philadelphia D Kent Huskins made his debut with his new team after being acquired from Detroit on Saturday. Prior to Sunday, Huskins last played on Feb. 24. ... After converting on each of its previous five power-play opportunities, Philadelphia went 1-for-4 with the man advantage.
