Jets 4, Hurricanes 1: Evander Kane collected a goal and three assists and Ondrej Pavelec turned aside 38 shots as visiting Winnipeg extended its lead in the Southeast Division.
Defenseman Tobias Enstrom scored for the second consecutive game and Olli Jokinen and Nik Antropov also tallied for the Jets, who have won two in a row and moved six points ahead of second-place Carolina.
Jiri Tlusty scored and Justin Peters finished with 31 saves for the Hurricanes, who have mustered seven goals during their 0-5-1 skid.
After scoring in his return from a shoulder injury against Tampa Bay on Sunday, Enstrom's blast from the edge of the left faceoff circle gave Winnipeg a 2-1 lead with 8:29 remaining in the second period. Winnipeg doubled the advantage over five minutes later after the rebound of Kane's shot caromed off both Alex Burmistrov's body and Antropov's stick before entering the net.
Kane capped the scoring in an unconventional manner with 7:23 remaining in the third period. Kane was the last offensive player to touch the puck before Carolina defenseman Jamie McBain inadvertently hit it into his own net.
GAME NOTEBOOK: In lieu of Marc Staal's horrific eye injury, brothers Jordan and Eric wore visors for the Hurricanes. ... Tlusty opened the scoring at 6:06 of the first period after one-timing Riley Nash's centering feed on the doorstep. Jokinen answered over 7 1/2 minutes later after settling Kane's feed on a 2-on-1 rush before firing the puck between the pads of Peters. ... Carolina RW Chad LaRose returned to the lineup after being sidelined with a concussion since March 2.
