Penguins 1, Canadiens 0:
Captain Sidney Crosby scored and Marc-Andre Fleury and Tomas Vokoun combined on the shutout as host Pittsburgh edged Montreal to extend its winning streak to 13 straight games.

Chris Kunitz and defenseman Brooks Orpik each recorded an assist on Crosby’s tally for the Penguins, who are enjoying their longest streak since the club won an NHL-record 17 straight in the 1992-1993 season. Fleury made 25 saves before taking a hit at the end of the second period and being replaced for the beginning of the third by Vokoun, who stopped 12 shots.

Carey Price turned aside 24 shots as the Canadiens missed out on a chance to move ahead of the idle Boston Bruins in the Northeast Division.

Crosby reeled in Kunitz's long pass before skating to the right faceoff circle and wristing a shot past Price on the blocker side for his 15th tally with 6:41 left in the second period.

Brenden Morrow, who was acquired from the Dallas Stars on Sunday, made his debut for Pittsburgh. The veteran left wing did not register a shot on goal in 12:55 of ice time.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Morrow is expected to form a line with former Dallas teammate James Neal and reigning Hart Trophy winner Evgeni Malkin. Malkin, who is out with an upper-body injury, is expected back soon. … The Penguins did not have D Douglas Murray, who has yet to join the team after being acquired from the San Jose Sharks on Monday. … The Canadiens lost consecutive games for the first time in 2013.
