Senators 3, Rangers 2 (SO): Kaspars Daugavins scored in the seventh round of the shootout as host Ottawa overcame an ankle injury to Craig Anderson to win its third straight game.
Daugavins netted the decisive goal despite losing control of the puck as he skated in on Henrik Lundqvist. Rookie Chris Kreider, who was booed for his part in injuring Anderson, wristed his shot off the post to end the contest.
Injuries continued to plague the Senators, who are without reigning Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson (season-ending Achilles injury) among others. Anderson joined the growing list as Kreider careened into him after losing his edge following a hit from defenseman Marc Methot early in the third period. Anderson was unable to put weight on his right foot and needed assistance to leave the ice.
Rookie Jakob Silfverberg scored a short-handed goal and Mika Zibanejad added one on a power play for the Senators, who improved to 7-1-2 at Scotiabank Place by posting their third win in 11 home outings against the Rangers.
Captain Ryan Callahan scored a power-play goal midway through the third period and defenseman Ryan McDonagh tallied 51 seconds later. Lundqvist finished with 35 saves for the Rangers, who have dropped two straight games with top-line forward Rick Nash sidelined with an undisclosed injury.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Callahan leveled the contest at 1-1, collecting a loose puck as it caromed off the end boards and depositing it past Ben Bishop (11 saves). McDonagh's wrist shot through traffic gave New York its first lead, but Zibanejad answered under two minutes later by swatting a deflected puck into the net. ... New York LW Carl Hagelin saw his five-game point streak come to an end. The Swede collected five goals and three assists during the stretch. ... Rangers rookie J.T. Smith picked up his first NHL assist by setting up McDonagh.
