Bruins 3, Sabres 1: Patrice Bergeron snapped a tie during a power play at 7:52 of the third period as visiting Boston avenged its only regulation loss of the season.
Brad Marchand and Milan Lucic also scored while Anton Khudobin made 25 saves for the Bruins, who suffered a 7-4 home setback to the Sabres on Jan. 31. Boston improved to 8-1-1, the best 10-game start in franchise history.
Tyler Ennis scored and Ryan Miller stopped 36 shots for Buffalo, which had won two in a row following a 1-6-1 stretch.
After Chris Bourque's shot from the left point hit a leg and went wide, the puck caromed off the end boards and right to Bergeron, who beat Miller high to the glove side from the left faceoff circle. Miller made a superb sprawling save on Bergeron with 5:50 remaining to keep Buffalo within one, but Lucic iced the game with an empty-net goal in the final minute.
Marchand returned from a one-game absence due to an upper-body injury to put Boston ahead, beating Miller with a snap shot from the top of the left circle at 7:10 of the second for his team-leading sixth goal. Buffalo answered with 1:59 remaining in the period as Ennis received a pass alone in the slot and deked Khudobin to the ice before lifting the puck over the goaltender.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Boston LWs Shawn Thornton and Daniel Paille also were back in the lineup after missing time with injuries. Both were sidelined two games, Thornton with a concussion and Paille an upper-body injury. ... Sabres D Tyler Myers was a healthy scratch for the second time in as many days. The former Calder Trophy winner has one goal and a minus-9 rating in 11 games this season. ... The Bruins have kept the opposition scoreless in the third period in nine of their 10 games. Buffalo scored four times in the final 20 minutes of its victory in Boston on Jan. 31.
