Quarterback B.J. Daniels rushed for a touchdown before leaving with an ankle injury in the fourth quarter and the host Bulls snapped a six-game losing streak.

Daniels’ 5-yard touchdown run with 4:08 remaining in the first quarter capped an eight-play, 80-yard drive and Maikon Bonani added two fourth-quarter field goals for South Florida (3-6, 1-4 Big East).

Connecticut (3-6, 0-4) was limited to two Chad Christen field goals and had only 43 yards rushing. South Florida recorded its first two interceptions of the season in the fourth quarter, clinching the victory when Elkino Watson picked off Chandler Whitmer’s pass at the Bulls’ 23-yard line with 50 seconds left.

Bonani, who kicked a school-record five field goals in a 37-36 loss to Syracuse last Saturday, drilled a career-long 50-yarder with 4:26 remaining to put the Bulls ahead 13-6.

South Florida, which lost its last two games by a combined three points, won a Big East contest for only the second time in its last 14 games. Whitmer was 24-for-38 for 284 yards for the Huskies, who lost their fourth straight.
