Quarterback Sean Renfree ran for two scores and passed for another as Duke used its balance on offense to pull away from visiting Tulane for a 48-27 victory on Saturday.
Duke (2-2), which had five rushing touchdowns and led by as many as 35 points, has won two straight for only the second time in the last two seasons.
The Blue Devils allowed just 55 yards rushing and did not give up an offensive touchdown to the Green Wave (2-2) until there was 10:37 left in the game. Tulane had scored 90 points in its two wins.
Renfree, who completed a school-record 41 passes last week at Boston College, threw for 277 yards. Conner Vernon had six catches for 95 yards and a touchdown.
Duke came in averaging just 96.3 yards rushing per game - ranked 100th in the nation - but had 119 in the first half Saturday.
Ryan Travis intercepted Renfree and ran 23 yards for a score to tie the game 7-7 with 8:22 left in the first quarter. Juwan Thompson responded with a 20-yard scoring run - one of his two TDs on the afternoon - to give Duke the lead for good just 55 seconds later.
Cairo Santos had a pair of field goals for Tulane, including a career-long 49-yarder in the third quarter.
