Ryan Tannehill passed for 337 yards and two touchdowns and No. 9 Texas A&M used a strong defensive effort to blow out Idaho 37-7 on Saturday night in College Station, Texas.

The Aggies (2-0) held the overmatched Vandals to only 187 total yards and didn’t give up a point until a little more than two minutes were left in the game, narrowly missing their first shutout since 2004.

Running back Cyrus Gray had 158 total yards and three touchdowns for Texas A&M, which can now look ahead to a Big 12 Conference opening showdown with No. 7 Oklahoma State next week.

The Aggies had two early turnovers in Idaho territory and led only 7-0 after the first quarter, but the star-studded offense found its rhythm in the second.

Tannehill connected with Gray for a 3-yard touchdown pass with 24 seconds left in the half to cap a 20-point quarter and give Texas A&M a commanding 27-0 halftime lead.

Mike Scott had 97 receiving yards to lead Idaho (1-2), which is just 1-11 in road openers since 2000, losing by an average of 29 points. The Vandals struggled offensively all night, gaining only 1.9 yards per rush and 4.9 yards per pass attempt.

Texas A&M moved to 68-10 at home against non-conference opponents since 1980.
