No. 6 Duke 88, Virginia Tech 56: Seth Curry scored 19 of his 22 points in the first half as the Blue Devils rolled to an easy victory over host Virginia Tech in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
Rasheed Sulaimon added 17 points and Mason Plumlee had 13 points and 12 rebounds as Duke (23-3, 10-3 ACC) rebounded from a loss to Maryland. The victory was coach Mike Krzyzewski’s 877th win with the Blue Devils, breaking a tie with legendary Kentucky coach Adolph Rupp for third-most wins at one school.
Erick Green scored 22 points and C.J. Barksdale added 14 for Virginia Tech (11-15, 2-11), which lost its ninth straight game. Green entered the contest as the nation’s leading scorer at 25.3 points per game.
Duke shot 60 percent from the field in the first half and made 8-of-9 3-pointers en route to a 48-28 halftime lead. Curry made all five of his 3-pointers in the opening half.
The Blue Devils stretched the lead to more than 30 when Plumlee hit two free throws to make it 67-36 with 10:42 to play. Duke finished 12-of-17 from behind the arc while the Hokies were 1-of-16 from 3-point range.
