Miami 68, North Carolina 59: Kenny Kadji scored 18 points and the visiting Hurricanes improved to 2-0 in ACC play with a late 8-0 spurt.
Miami (11-3, 2-0 ACC) held a slim 56-55 lead with 4:59 remaining. Julian Gamble tipped in his own miss 26 seconds later, and Trey McKinney Jones and Durand Scott hit 3-pointers to push the Hurricanes’ advantage to 64-55 with 3:09 left.
James Michael McAdoo scored 14 points to lead North Carolina (10-5, 0-2). Miami held the Tar Heels, the ACC’s top scoring team, to 22 points below their season average.
Gamble added 14 points for Miami, which has won three in a row. Kadji finished with nine rebounds and four blocked shots.
The Tar Heels have lost three of their past five games. Reggie Bullock added 11 points for North Carolina, which shot 40 percent (24-for-60) from the field.
