TCU 65, Rice 63: Senior guard Garlon Green led all scorers with a career-high 31 points and the visiting Horned Frogs held on to defeat the Owls.
TCU, which shot 66.7 percent from beyond the 3-point arc, also received nine from senior forward Connell Crossland. Adrick McKinney and Kyan Anderson combined for 19.
Rice (3-8) knotted the game at 18 with a Julian DeBose dunk midway through the first half before TCU (8-4) went on a 15-2 run leading into halftime. But the Owls stormed back, pulling within one with 11 seconds to play on a DeBose layup. Then senior guard Tamir Jackson missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to win it.
Jackson shot 7-for-17 from the field to lead Rice with 25 points. DeBose added 12. Sophomore forward Seth Gearhart chipped in 11.
The Horned Frogs outrebounded the Owls 36-17.
