Florida State 88, Brigham Young 70: Okaro White scored 17 points, Michael Snaer added 16 and the Seminoles rolled to a wire-to-wire win over the Cougars in the semifinals of the Coaches versus Cancer Classic at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
Freshman point guard Devon Bookert had 15 points, five assists and five rebounds for the defending ACC champion Seminoles (2-1), who have won two straight since a stunning season-opening loss to South Alabama knocked them from the Top 25 rankings.
The Seminoles, who shot 58 percent (29-of-50) and hit 11 3-pointers, will face Saint Joseph's in the championship game. The Hawks defeated Notre Dame 79-70 in overtime Friday.
Brandon Davies and Tyler Haws each scored 19 points for BYU (2-1), which shot just 33 percent (25-of-75) and couldn't slow down a rejuvenated Seminoles' offense.
Florida State led 44-35 at the half and broke the game open with a 13-0 run to start the second half. The Seminoles extended the lead to 27 and then thwarted a late run after BYU cut the lead to 12.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Haws, who is back after serving a two-year Latter Day Saints mission, scored the Cougars' first 11 points. He finished the half with 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting. The rest of his teammates were just 7-of-23 from the field. ... Florida State made six straight shots at one point in the first half.
