Marcus Denmon collected 18 points, six rebounds and four assists, and Kim English added 19 points as No. 21 Missouri crushed No. 18 California 92-53 on Tuesday to win the Progressive CBE Classic in Kansas City, Mo.
Matt Pressey joined six players in double figures with 13 points for the Tigers (5-0), who beat Notre Dame 87-58 on Tuesday to reach the final.
Missouri locked down on the defensive end, holding the Golden Bears (4-1) to 30.4 percent shooting and forcing 19 turnovers.
Denmon, a Kansas City native, showed off in front of friends and family with 44 points in two games and the pro-Missouri crowd turned the Sprint Center into a virtual home game for the Tigers.
Missouri shot out to a 45-26 lead at the break and did not let up out of the locker room, scoring on eight straight possessions early in the second half to stretch the lead out to 63-32. The Tigers finished 57.7 percent (30-of-52) from the floor, including 10-of-25 from beyond the arc.
The crowd stayed alive into the final minute, when senior walk-on Jarrett Sutton, who is also from Kansas City, came off the bench and buried back-to-back 3-pointers.
Jorge Gutierrez scored 11 points to lead California.
