Michael Snaer led all scorers with 22 points and Florida State took a 34-point lead in at halftime and never looked back, knocking off Auburn 85-56 in Tallahassee.
Ian Miller added 15 points for the Seminoles (9-5), who shot 63.3 percent from the field in the first half and limited the Tigers (10-4) to just 15.2 percent. Snaer was 5-for-9 from the field and 10-for-10 from the free-throw line for Florida State, which improved to 8-1 on its home court this season.
Chris Denson led the way offensively for Auburn with 15 points and Kenny Gabriel added 10 to follow up the first triple-double in school history his last time out but the Tigers were the latest to fall victim to a suffocating FSU defense.
Auburn’s woeful shooting performance (32.3 percent overall) improved Florida State’s ACC-best field goal defense (.359 coming in). The 56-point total for the Tigers was the lowest for a Seminoles’ opponent in their last five games.
Both schools are now finished with the non-conference portion of their respective schedules, as Florida State now travels to Clemson to kick off ACC play while Auburn will take on its first SEC rival of the season at Vanderbilt Saturday.
