Terrell Stoglin scored 22 points and Maryland used a key 13-0 run midway through the second half en route to an 83-72 victory over visiting Albany on Wednesday for its fifth straight win.
After leading by as many as 13 in the first half, Maryland (8-3) fell behind in the second half 52-50 with 12:30 remaining before Stoglin ignited the decisive spurt with five points and the Terrapins held off a late surge by the Great Danes.
Maryland also got strong performances from Alex Len in his first collegiate game and Pe'Shon Howard, the sophomore point guard who returned to the team last week after missing the first nine games with a broken foot. Howard had 11 points, a career-high eight assists and six rebounds in his second game of the season.
Len, a 7-foot-1 freshman center who was forced to sit out 10 games by the NCAA because he played with a club team in his native Ukraine over the summer, had 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
James Padgett and Nick Faust scored 13 and 10 points, respectively, for the Terrapins.
Stoglin, who entered the game as the leading scorer in the ACC and was tied for sixth in the nation (21.5) with Albany's Gerardo Suero, connected on a career-high six 3-pointers as Maryland hit on 9-of-19 from long range and shot 51 percent from the field.
Suero, a junior from the Dominican Republic, scored 22 points to lead Albany (7-6) and top the 20-point mark for the fifth straight game. He also had eight assists and seven rebounds.
Luke Devlin matched a career-high with 16 points for Albany, which had its two-game winning streak snapped.
