Ashton Pankey scored a team-high 17 points to help Maryland pull away late in a 65-60 victory over visiting Radford on Friday.

The Terrapins (7-3) showed some rust after a nine-day layoff as the game was tied at 39 at halftime and at 46 midway through the second half.

Maryland point guard Pe’Shon Howard, playing in his first game after sitting out the first two months of the season with a broken bone in his left foot, chipped in with seven points off the bench.

Pankey’s dunk with 9:48 left broke the 46-46 tie, and another Pankey dunk increased the Terrapins’ lead to 52-46 a couple minutes later.

Radford, which had lost by an average of 31 points in three previous games against major-conference teams this season, closed the gap to 61-58 with just over a minute remaining, but late free throws by Terrell Stoglin sealed the victory.

Freshman R.J. Price had a season-high 22 points and Javonte Green added 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Eagles (3-11), who lost their 10th consecutive game.

Stoglin, who had scored 20 or more points in each of Maryland’s last five games, finished with 15 points on 5-of-18 shooting, his lowest total of the season since scoring six against Alabama on Nov. 17.
