D’Angelo Harrison scored 15 points and Moe Harkless added 13 as St. John's snapped a three-game losing streak with a 56-50 win over Fordham in the MSG Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden.
St. John's (5-5), which avenged a loss to Fordham last season, built its largest lead at 42-26 after Phil Greene capped an 18-0 run with a field goal. Fordham (4-6) fought back to get within three points on a dunk by Kervin Bristol with 2:01 left in the game, but the Rams missed three 3-pointers in the final minute.
Sophomore guard Branden Frazier was hot early for Fordham, hitting three 3-pointers, part of 11 early points, to give the Rams their biggest lead of the day at 16-11. Chris Gaston’s bucket with 3:06 to play in the half put Fordham up 26-24, but it was all St. John's in the final three minutes. Harrison, one of seven freshman for the Red Storm, scored 12 points in the opening half, helping St. John's take a 35-26 lead at half.
Frazier led Fordham with 17 points, though just four came in second half.
