Ashton Gibbs scored 17 points and No. 14 Pitt continued its reign as king of Madison Square Garden with a 74-68 win over Oklahoma State in the second game of the Car Quest Auto Parts double-header on Saturday.
Gibbs, a senior guard who has scored in double figures in each game, had two 3-pointers, leaving him 11 short of the school’s career record for treys. The victory was the seventh straight for Pitt (9-1), which improved its record to 28-13 at Madison Square Garden since 2000.
The Panthers also got 15 points from Nasir Robinson and 12 points and 10 rebounds from Lamar Patterson, his first double-double of the season.
Oklahoma State (6-3) had a three-game winning streak broken. Freshman Le’Bryan Nash led the Cowboys with 20 points. Keiton Page added 12 points and Markel Brown and Reger Dowell each scored 10. The Cowboys have lost three games at MSG this season.
