Jae Crowder's 3-pointer with 6.3 seconds remaining lifted No. 11 Marquette to a wild 79-77 victory over Washington at the Jimmy V Classic in New York.
Crowder, who scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half for the Golden Eagles (8-0), connected from deep in the right-hand corner just nine seconds after Terrence Ross had put the Huskies (4-3) in front with a hook shot in traffic.
Washington was unable to get off a clean shot before the buzzer. All but one of the game's 19 lead changes came in the second half.
Darius Johnson-Odom carried the load early for Marquette and finished with a game-high 23 points, but he left the window open for the Huskies by missing a foul shot with 31.2 seconds remaining after making a steal.
Johnson-Odom was 6-for-17 shooting from the floor for the Golden Eagles, who lost starting center Chris Otule to an apparent knee injury in the first half.
Ross led the Huskies in defeat with 19 points and nine rebounds off the bench, while C.J. Wilcox added 15 points. Washington outrebounded Marquette by a 43-31 margin, grabbing 18 offensive boards.
