Bo Spencer scored a season-high 23 points as Nebraska routed Rhode Island, 83-63, at the Devaney Sports Center on Sunday.
Caleb Walker added 17 points for the Huskers (3-0), who shot a season-high 57.1 percent.
In its most efficient offensive performance of the season, Nebraska also set new season highs in points and 3-pointers (10) while committing a season-low 13 turnovers.
The Huskers took a 40-20 lead into the break mostly on the strength of its defense, which forced 15 turnovers and held the Rams to 29.6 percent shooting in the first half alone.
Nebraska led by as many as 24 points before intermission and held Rhode Island (0-3) scoreless for a six-minute stretch in the first half to turn an early seven-point advantage into a 29-9 lead.
The Huskers, who led the Big 12 in scoring defense three of the past four seasons, were on top of their game against the Rams, limiting high-scoring guard Jamal Wilson to just 14 points, 17 less than his season average.
Orion Outerbridge scored 24 points to lead the Rams, who have dropped three games to open the season for the first time in the 11-year tenure of coach Jim Baron.
