Mason Plumlee collected 16 points and 13 rebounds as No. 6 Duke pulled away in the second half to top visiting Davidson, 82-69, on Friday.
Freshman guard Austin Rivers had his best night so far with 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting for the Blue Devils (4-0), who gave coach Mike Krzyzewski his 904th career victory.
The mid-major Wildcats, who were a preseason pick to win the Southern Conference, hung right with Duke for the first 20 minutes, taking a 35-34 lead into the locker room when Tom Droney knocked down a pair of free throws in the final second.
But the Blue Devils were too much for Davidson in the second half. Miles and Mason Plumlee scored six points apiece during a 14-0 run that put Duke up 53-41 with 12:50 left. The Wildcats never managed to get it back to single digits.
Blue Devils guard Seth Curry, whose older brother Stephen starred at Davidson, added 17 points.
Chris Czerapowicz led four players in double figures with 15 points for the Wildcats (2-1), who face two more ranked opponents in the pre-conference slate with No. 20 Vanderbilt visiting and a trip to No. 11 Kansas next month.
