Ben Brust came off the bench and scored a career-high 17 points as No. 13 Wisconsin cruised to a 68-41 victory over visiting Colgate on Wednesday.
Preseason All-American Jordan Taylor had a rough shooting night (3-for-10) but filled up the box score with nine points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Badgers (2-0), who dominated on the defensive end against the overmatched Raiders.
Wisconsin held Colgate to 35 percent shooting (16-of-46) and forced 14 turnovers.
The Badgers put it away with a strong first half, getting 3-pointers from Taylor and Jared Berggren during a 12-2 run to open the game. Burst hit four 3-pointers in the first half and Taylor added three from beyond the arc, pushing Wisconsin out to a 42-20 edge at the break.
The Badgers cooled down offensively after the break but the Raiders did not have the offense to take advantage.
Wisconsin committed only five turnovers.
John Brandenburg scored 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting off the bench while the starting five combined to shoot 8-of-30 for Colgate.
