Trent Lockett’s layup with 9 seconds left gave Arizona State a thrilling 59-58 victory over Weber State in the Great Alaska Shootout semifinals Friday.
Lockett finished with a game-high 24 points as the Sun Devils advanced to the finals, where they will meet St. John's. The Red Storm defeated Drake 82-39 in the other semifinal.
After the teams were tied 27-27 at halftime, the Sun Devils led 57-52 with 3:57 left. But the Wildcats took a 58-57 lead with 16 seconds left after Damian Lillard (12 points) made two free throws.
After Lockett's bucket, Lillard missed a last-second 3-pointer to cap off a 2-for-17 shooting performance.
Jamelle McMillan scored 16 points for the Sun Devils (3-1).
Weber State is 2-3.
