Five players scored in double figures as No. 18 Arizona knocked off visiting Oregon 90-82 on Senior Day on Saturday and claimed its first Pac-10 regular
season championship in six years.
Kyle Fogg scored 20 points to lead Arizona (25-6, 14-4 Pac-10), which shot 11 of 25 from the 3-point line.
Joevan Catron scored a game-high 28 points to lead Oregon (14-16, 7-11 Pac-10), which dropped its fourth straight contest and plays a first-round game in the Pac-10 tournament Wednesday in Los Angeles. Arizona gets a first-round bye and plays its second-round game Thursday.
On Saturday, Arizona stretched its nine-point halftime lead with a 12-4 run, punctuated by a Derrick Williams 3-pointer with 17 minutes left. Williams, the Wildcats’ leading scorer, had a quiet but efficient game, scoring 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting and grabbing five rebounds.
Oregon battled back, cutting the lead to seven points with 11 minutes remaining, but would get no closer as the Wildcats overwhelmed the
Ducks with depth.
Solomon Hill scored 14 points and Kevin Parrom added 11 points off the bench for the Wildcats, who had 10 players score in
the win.
