J.P. Olukemi came off the bench to score 20 points and converted a clutch three-point play with 25 seconds left to lift host Oklahoma State past Texas Tech, 70-68, Saturday.
With the Cowboys (17-11, 5-9 Big 12) down two, Olukemi drove inside the paint, drew a foul on Texas Tech’s Mike Singletary and hit a spinning bank-shot to tie the game at 68-68. He hit the ensuing free throw and added another foul shot after Texas Tech turned it over.
John Roberson had a good look at a potential winning 3-pointer but misfired as time expired, sending Texas Tech (12-17, 4-10 Big 12) to its sixth loss in its last seven games.
The Cowboys ended a four-game slide and won for the first time since losing leading rebounder Darrell Williams to a suspension in mid-February. Marshall Moses had 14, and Reger Dowell added 13 for Oklahoma State.
Brad Reese led the Red Raiders with 18 points, and Roberson finished with 17, including two second-half 3-pointers that helped Tech overcome a nine-point deficit.
The loss adds to what already had been a tumultuous week for the Red Raiders. Earlier in the week, coach Pat Knight went on a bit of a rant and adamantly defended his coaching abilities, and Roberson and Singletary publicly criticized the lack of fan support.
