Malcolm Lee scored a game-high 19 points and host UCLA used its tenacious defense to defeat Oregon State for the 13th straight time, 69-61, on Saturday.
UCLA (18-7, 9-3 Pac-10) won for the fifth straight time and ninth time in 10 games to remain in second in the Pac-10 while sending Oregon State (9-15, 4-9 Pac-10) to its third straight loss and sixth in seven outings.
The Bruins, who led the entire game despite committing 26 turnovers, blocked a season-high 16 shots, including a career-high eight by sophomore Tyler Honeycutt. UCLA outrebounded Oregon State 36-28 and held the Beavers to 33 percent shooting.
Freshman Joshua Smith came off the bench to add 15 points, six rebounds, and three blocks for UCLA, and Honeycutt added nine points, five rebounds and five assists.
Jared Cunningham led Oregon State with 14 points and five steals.
UCLA led 24-6 with 8:07 remaining in the first half, only to see Oregon State close on a 18-5 run to trail 29-24 at halftime.
