Arizona State continues to move ahead from its early-season struggles, beating Long Beach State at home 72-55 on Tuesday.
The Sun Devils (6-4) won their third consecutive game after losing three games in eight days earlier this season.
Ty Abbott scored a team-high 15 point for Arizona State, which pulled away from the 49ers in the opening minutes of the second half. Ahead 32-27 at halftime, the Sun Devils began the second half with a 20-8 run, opening a 56-40 advantage.
Arizona State won three of its first four, then lost to St. Johns, No. 10-Baylor and Richmond. But since then, the Sun Devils have rebounded to beat Gardner-Webb, Nevada and now Long Beach State.
Kyle Cain added 12 points and 16 rebounds and Trent Lockett scored 10 points for Arizona State.
Greg Plater scored 15 points to lead the 49ers (5-8), who shot 33.3 percent from the field and committed 18 turnovers.
The Sun Devils play host to North Carolina A&T on Thursday, then travel to Oregon State on Dec. 30. The 49ers, who have lost four in a row, play Dec. 28 at California-Santa Barbara.
