Curtis Kelly scored 15 points, including the go-ahead layup with 2 minutes left, as No. 5 Kansas State survived Washington State 63-58 Friday night at Pullman, Wash.
With the game tied 54-54, Jacob Pullen's steal with 2:03 left and subsequent assist on Kelly's bucket gave the Wildcats the lead for good. After Jamar Samuel's basket gave Kansas State a 58-54 lead, the Wildcats made 5 of 6 free throws down the stretch.
Kansas State (7-1) shot 39.7 percent from the field; Washington State (5-1) shot 35.6 percent. The teams were 10 for 40 combined from 3-point range.
The Wildcats outrebounded the Cougars 41-30.
