Anatoly Bose and Nicholls State already had a reputation of playing big-name opponents tough and Oklahoma State was ready.
Bose got his points, but Oklahoma State made one of its own with a 76-56 victory on Sunday in a non-conference matchup.
Nicholls State (1-2) lost to Houston by one point in overtime and beat LSU on Tuesday, both on the road. The Colonels came to Stillwater primed for another upset, but the Cowboys had other ideas.
Oklahoma State led 33-22 at the half and methodically pulled away in the second half. Keiton Page was 8-of-12 from the field and led the Cowboys with 18 points, while Marshall Moses hit 6-of-7 from the field and finished with 16.
Oklahoma State (3-0) shot 63 percent from the field (31-of-49) to remain perfect on its season-opening five-game homestand.
Bose scored 37 points, but no other Colonel scored more than seven. Bose was 14-of-14 from the free throw line and made 5-of-10 3-pointers, but he finished 9-of-24 from the field.
The Colonels from the Southland Conference finished 16-of-51 (31 percent) from the field.
