Jeremy Green paced five players in double figures with 21 points and Stanford went crazy from the arc en route to an 81-60 victory over visiting Virginia on Thursday at Maples Pavillion.

Green drilled five 3-pointers and freshman Anthony Brown and Aaron Bright combined for 25 points and 6-of-7 from the arc as Stanford (2-0) knocked down 13-of-23 for the game and shot 54.4 overall (31-of-57).

After a great shooting first half in which each team held a six-point lead before Stanford took a 37-34 lead at the break, the Cardinal put together several streaks to pull away from the Cavaliers (2-1).

Josh Owens converted a three-point play and jumper in the first minute of the second half to provide Stanford a 42-34 lead. Brown took over six minutes later stroking consecutive 3-pointers to push a two-point lead to 53-45 with 13:08 left.

After Virginia closed within five, Bright, Mike Zimmerman and Green stroked consecutive 3-pointers to push the lead to 62-48 with nine minutes left. Stanford stretched the lead to 19 on five straight points by Brown three minutes later and the Cardinal coasted home.

Bright finished 4-of-4 from the floor – all 3 pointers – and added four assists.

Mustapha Farrakhan scored 14 points and Joe Harris drained 4-of-7 from the arc for 12 points for the Cavaliers, who played their first of six straight games away from home.
