Hawks 90, Pacers 69: Al Horford recorded playoff career highs of 26 points and 16 rebounds as host Atlanta pulled within 2-1 in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference series with Indiana.

Josh Smith scored 14 points and Jeff Teague added 13 for the Hawks, who put on a defensive display by holding the Pacers to 27.2 percent shooting. Atlanta will try to even the series when it hosts Game 4 on Monday.

David West scored 18 points and Paul George had 16 for Indiana, which committed 22 turnovers.

The Hawks took control early, holding the Pacers to 23.8 percent shooting in the first half to take a 54-30 lead into the break. Atlanta decided to start Johan Petro and bring Kyle Korver off the bench and the bigger lineup had little trouble keeping Indiana off balance.

The Hawks stretched the lead to as much as 75-47 late in the third quarter and the Pacers never mounted a serious comeback attempt. Horford’s jumper with 3:35 left made it 86-65 and Atlanta emptied the bench 30 seconds later.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Hawks outscored the Pacers in the paint 50-30. … West was whistled for a flagrant 1 foul and Teague was issued a technical as the game got physical in the first half. … Atlanta used a 42-10 run bridging the first and second quarters to take control.
