Hawks 106, Cavaliers 97: Al Horford racked up 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists as host Atlanta beat Cleveland to run its winning streak to six games.
Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague scored 16 points apiece and Dennis Schroder added 15 points and eight assists off the bench for the Hawks, who improved to 29-4 at home. Mike Scott scored 14 points in a reserve role and DeMarre Carroll contributed 11 and Atlanta outscored Cleveland 54-24 in the paint.
Kyrie Irving scored 20 points and LeBron James had 18 points, eight assists and nine turnovers for the Cavaliers, who have lost their last five games in Atlanta. Kevin Love had 14 points and eight rebounds and J.R. Smith scored 12 points.
Cleveland put together a 14-2 run early in the third quarter to erase a double-digit deficit and take a 66-65 lead on a pair of Timofey Mozgov free throws with 6:15 left in the quarter, but the Hawks claimed an 81-79 lead on Schroder's basket with 30 seconds left in the period. Kyle Korver hit a pair of 3-pointers to bookend a 10-2 run to open the fourth and the Cavaliers didn't seriously threaten again.
The Hawks shot 71 percent in the first quarter and reeled of an 11-0 run to open a 36-19 advantage after one period. Cleveland heated up from outside in the second quarter, going 5-of-8 from 3-point range, and trimmed the margin to 53-43 at the break.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Hawks wore throwback uniforms from the 1982-92 era in tribute to franchise legend and TV commentator Dominique Wilkins, who was honored during a halftime ceremony and had a statue in his likeness unveiled in front of Philips Arena. … James had more turnovers (6) and missed shots (6) than points (5) in the first half. … Cavaliers coach David Blatt was whistled for his first NBA technical foul in the second quarter for arguing an offensive foul call against James, who also was called for a technical in the third quarter.
