Hawks 109, Celtics 105: Kyle Korver went 6-for-7 from 3-point range en route to 24 points as host Atlanta erased a 23-point deficit to stun Boston.
Paul Millsap collected 19 points, seven assists, three steals and three blocks and Dennis Schroder scored 10 of his career-high 15 in the fourth quarter for the Hawks, who have won three straight and five of six. Al Horford added 16 points and Pero Antic chipped in 10 off the bench as Atlanta improved to 8-2 at home.
Jared Sullinger racked up 22 points and nine rebounds and Jeff Green scored 25 for the Celtics, who have lost five straight and eight of nine. Avery Bradley added 18 points and Rajon Rondo dished out 19 assists — 14 in the first half — to go with 12 rebounds for Boston, which dropped to 4-7 when tied or leading at halftime.
The Celtics went 17-for-22 from the floor in the first quarter and scored the first 11 points of the second to open a 53-30 advantage, then withstood a 16-6 Atlanta spurt and went to the break up 66-50 after Sullinger's 3-pointer at the buzzer. Boston had the lead back up to 22 early in the third period before the Hawks began their surge, outscoring the Celtics 20-5 over a span of six-plus minutes and getting within 85-80 heading to the final period.
Kent Bazemore's 3-pointer tied it at 85 and Schroder's three-point play put the Hawks on top 88-85 with 10:48 remaining, and the Celtics pulled even three more times but never led again. Boston went nearly six minutes between field goals to fall behind by nine but was able to cut the margin to 107-105 in the final minute before Bazemore knocked down a jumper between Green misses and Atlanta escaped.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Atlanta allowed 28 first-half points in each of its two previous games before giving up 42 in the first quarter and 66 in the first half Tuesday. … Korver went 2-for-2 at the foul line and has made 32 consecutive free throws. … Boston was outscored 29-20 in the fourth quarter after entering the game having been outscored by an NBA-worst average of 5.4 points in the final period.
