Hawks 106, Wizards 102: Jeff Teague scored a game-high 28 points and Paul Millsap collected 17 points and 11 rebounds as Atlanta snapped a streak of three straight road losses to Washington.
Mike Scott contributed 17 points and seven rebounds off the bench for the Hawks, who have won six of eight. Shelvin Mack chipped in 13 points in a reserve role and DeMarre Carroll added 11 for Atlanta.
John Wall racked up 21 points and 13 assists and Marcin Gortat had 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Wizards, who lost for only the second time in seven games. Paul Pierce scored 14 points and Bradley Beal struggled to 13 on 4-of-14 shooting and committed seven of Washington's 24 turnovers.
Scott scored nine points during a 12-0 burst in the fourth quarter to help Atlanta open an 82-73 lead with 6:52 left. Rasual Butler hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Pierce and Drew Gooden also knocked down 3s in the final minute as Washington cut the margin to 105-102 before running out of time.
The Hawks held the Wizards to 35.9 percent shooting and forced 12 turnovers in the first half to take a 41-39 lead into the break. Washington warmed up in the third quarter and led 73-70 after Andre Miller drew a charge and hit a jumper at the other end with 9:24 remaining before Scott took over during the pivotal stretch.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Pierce (25,202) passed Jerry West for 17th on the NBA's all-time scoring list. … Washington SF Otto Porter Jr. scored six points in 20 minutes off the bench after missing Saturday's game at Milwaukee with a sore hamstring. … Atlanta C Al Horford was limited to 23 minutes because of foul trouble and finished with seven points and seven rebounds.
