Spurs 101, Pelicans 95: Tony Parker led the way with 27 points and seven assists as visiting San Antonio held off New Orleans to earn its fifth straight win.

Tim Duncan added 18 points and nine rebounds for the Spurs, who became the NBA’s first 30-win team. Manu Ginobili (hamstring) returned from a two-game absence and scored 14 points while Kawhi Leonard added 13 and Marco Belinelli scored 12 for San Antonio.

Anthony Davis recorded 22 points and 11 rebounds while Brian Roberts scored 19 points for the shorthanded Pelicans, who have dropped six straight. Eric Gordon scored 12 points and Austin Rivers had 11 as New Orleans was again without Ryan Anderson (herniated disc) and Jrue Holiday (stress fracture).

Leonard’s 3-pointer with 2:04 remaining gave the Spurs a 97-93 lead and Parker followed Roberts’ basket with a layup to keep it a four-point edge with 43 seconds left. Roberts missed a 3-point attempt out of a timeout and San Antonio closed it out at the free-throw line.

The Pelicans led by as many as 10 points early in the third quarter and held a 73-68 advantage before the Spurs scored the final eight points of the quarter. Belinelli’s heave from over 30 feet splashed through to make it an 86-77 gap before New Orleans started to come back, scoring the next 10 to take a one-point lead with 7:07 on the clock.

GAME NOTEBOOK: New Orleans was also without G Tyreke Evans (ankle), who missed his second straight game. … Spurs G Danny Green was diagnosed with a fractured metacarpal in his left hand and will miss four weeks. … F Al-Farouq Aminu hauled in a game-high 13 rebounds to help the Pelicans match San Antonio on the glass 41-41.
