Spurs 102, Nuggets 94:
Tony Parker scored 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting and San Antonio leaned on its bench during a big fourth quarter to overcome host Denver.

Tim Duncan added 17 points, eight rebounds and eight assists and Kawhi Leonard scored 14 for the Spurs, who began the fourth quarter with a 20-6 run to overcome a six-point deficit entering the period. Boris Diaw recorded nine points to lead a 31-point effort from the reserves.

Ty Lawson collected 20 points and eight assists and Kenneth Faried had 15 points and eight rebounds for the Nuggets, who dropped to 0-2 at home after leading the NBA with a 38-3 mark in their own building last season.

Denver held San Antonio to 35.6 percent shooting in the first half and took a 52-43 lead into the break. The Spurs connected on their first seven field-goal attempts in the third quarter but only cut three points off the deficit as the Nuggets kept pace, going into the fourth with a 78-72 edge.

Patty Mills scored five of the first six points in the final period for San Antonio before Splitter came back in the game and converted a three-point play to give the Spurs their first lead of the half at 81-80. Faried’s jumper briefly put Denver back on top, but Diaw responded with a 3-pointer and the Nuggets went nearly 5 1/2 minutes without a field goal as San Antonio pulled away.

The Nuggets are one of four remaining winless teams, along with Utah, Boston and Washington. … Denver committed 23 turnovers, leading to 27 points for the Spurs. … Spurs sharpshooter Danny Green went 0-for-3 from 3-point range and is 2-for-9 on the season.
