Rudy Gay and Marc Gasol recorded 20 points and 13 rebounds apiece for the Grizzlies (11-10), who snapped a five-game losing streak.

Tony Allen added 17 points, including eight in the final 4:05 of the fourth quarter. Allen’s baseline-driving dunk with five seconds left forced overtime after Al
Harrington’s put back with 10.3 seconds to go gave Denver a 91-89 lead.

Mayo’s clutch shot followed a pair of offensive rebounds and made it 98-97. After a pair of Mike Conley free throws increased the lead to three, Denver’s Rudy Fernandez missed a 3-pointer with one second left. Mayo finished with 18 points.

Harrington scored 11 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter and added 10 rebounds while Andre Miller scored 20 for the Nuggets (14-7), who had their five-game road winning streak snapped.

Miller’s jumper at the end of regulation went in and out.

Denver’s bench, led by Harrington and Miller, outscored the Grizzlies’ reserves 54-27.

Memphis trailed 77-65 with nine minutes remaining before tying it at 89 on Mayo’s runner with 33.6 seconds left.

Miller scored 10 points in the second quarter, highlighted by a twisting, driving layup to put Denver in front 46-33 with 2:05 to go in the half.
