Kobe Bryant posted his 17th career triple-double and the Los Angeles Lakers displayed their patented unselfish play and tough defense in a 112-100 victory over the host Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.

Bryant finished with 30 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds and the Lakers committed just six turnovers to post their fifth straight win to start the season.

A jumper by Beno Udrih provided Sacramento a 43-38 lead with 8 1/2 minutes left in the first half, but the Los Angles defense stiffened from there. The Kings missed 16 straight shots over the next seven minutes while the Lakers cashed in on countless alley-oop plays and a four-point play by Bryant to forge a 62-53 lead at the half.

The Lakers pushed the lead to 20 in the third quarter behind 3-pointers by Ron Artest and Lamar Odom.

Sacramento, which won its last two games after trailing by double digits, pulled within seven with four minutes left. Derek Fisher followed by draining a shot from the arc, then forced a turnover and converted a three-point play off a fast-break layup.

Pau Gasol had 22 points and 11 rebounds and Odom added 18 and eight for for Los Angeles, which shot 11-of-21 from the arc and extended its winning streak over Sacramento to seven games.

Tyreke Evans scored 21 points for Sacramento despite being in foul trouble for most of the night.
