Kevin Martin's three-point play with 6.9 seconds remaining gave the visiting Houston Rockets a 97-96 victory over the shorthanded Utah Jazz.

The Rockets trailed by two points when Martin curled around a screen, snatched a sloppy pass away from two defenders and threw in a runner off the glass as he was fouled by Al Jefferson. His free throw gave Houston the lead, and Utah's C.J. Miles missed a contested corner jumper that rolled around the rim before the final horn.

Paul Millsap gave Utah a 96-94 lead with 1:24 left on a driving left-handed layup. The Jazz had two chances on their next possession to take a two-possession lead, but Millsap and Earl Watson missed jumpers.

Kyle Lowry made four 3-pointers and scored 16 points and Chuck Hayes added 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Rockets, who salvaged the finale of a four-game road trip.

Houston drained 11-of-22 from the arc while Utah hit just 1-of-11.

Jefferson had 20 points and 12 rebounds and Millsap 20 and 11 for Utah, which has lost eight of 10 and played its fourth straight game without point guard Deron Williams. Watson had 11 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in his place.

Utah forward Andrei Kirilenko (ankle) and center Mehmet Okur (back) also sat with injuries.
