Zach Randolph had 27 points and nine rebounds and hit the game-winning basket with 0.3 seconds left to give the Memphis Grizzlies a dramatic 104-103 victory over the host Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.
Randolph hit a high-arching 17-foot jumper over tight defense from Dallas’ Brendan Haywood to give Memphis (35-29) the victory and end the Mavericks’ eight-game winning streak.
Jason Terry, who scored 26 points, missed a desperation 3-point shot at the buzzer for Dallas (45-17).
Dirk Nowitzki scored 23 points and hit a free-throw line jumper with 3.1 seconds left to give Dallas a 103-102 lead prior to Randolph’s decisive basket.
The Mavericks are 18-2 over their last 20 games - with both losses coming on last-second shots. Denver’s Arron Afflalo ended a 10-game Dallas winning streak with a buzzer-beating basket on Feb. 10.
Shane Battier’s reverse layup after coming up with a loose ball underneath the basket gave Memphis a 102-101 lead with 14.3 seconds remaining.
The Grizzlies rallied impressively from a 17-point halftime deficit and took a 77-76 lead Battier’s 3-pointer with 30 seconds left in the third quarter.
Mike Conley had 17 points and 10 assists and Marc Gasol had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Memphis.
